Self-taught and dedicated.
Since the age of 7, from the first time she learned how to sew on a button, Erica Schmitt hasn’t been able to take off her thimble or quiet her creative mind. Being brought up in a musical theatre household, she was absolutely captivated by classics such as Singing in the Rain, Annie, and West Side Story. Quarantine hit her hard right as she graduated middle school and she eventually found a way to spend all of her free time: behind a sewing machine. She dove head first into her high school career determined to pursue her dreams in musical theatre, and she eventually found her perfect fit in the dressing rooms as “Costume Manager” of her school's theatre department.
Erica is currently pursuing her Bachelors in the Arts as a Theatre Design Major at USF in Tampa, FL, and greets everyday with an inquiring mind and open heart.

Marisol was a pretty significant milestone in Erica's design journey. Her style and skill in costume rendering has completely changed from where she started 5 years ago. To see her chronological process, check out the "Sketches and Renderings" page.
After 4 years of serving her high school's theatre department as "Costume Manager", Erica finished her Senior year off with a bang! She considers this production of Mamma Mia to be a highlight from her time designing at Bishop Kenny, and hopes you will enjoy it as much as she did.
Erica's Junior year costume construction piece for District 2, Florida Thespians is one her more favored pieces. Even though she competed all four years, each receiving a high score of "Superior", this dress from the musical Anastasia will always have a special place in her heart.
